An unmanned aerial drone made for reconnaissance and security operations, ready to be deployed in swarms against all opposition. They are outfitted with pulse lasers and use their air superiority to hover over all ground units that would otherwise stop them in their tracks.
The Scout uses pulse laser emitting equipment to strike down both ground and air units within range. These lasers are outfitted to help bypass Chronite armor, making them particularly effective against the bulky Chronite Tanks deployed from the Outpost.
Since they use pulse lasers, Scouts can deal significant damage to Chronite armor, making short work of Chronite Tanks, and if in larger swarms, Sakata Spiders. With Chronite Tanks unable to attack air units, they won't even get a chance to retaliate against a Scout swarm.
Scouts are the only air unit of Outpost and Forge Tier 1 units, making them untargetable by both Chronite Tanks and A25-Romans. Most early engagements that pose a challenge for them are opposing Scout swarms or Marine groups, though Marines can be handled more effectively with proper micro.
Although a little more pricey than A25-Romans, Scouts are quick and easily amassed, allowing for early Scout swarms to plant a firm hold in the map center, only needing to adjust position when incoming Marine groups approach.
Scouts excel most when used in large swarms due to their low health pools, making them easily struck down compared to most other air units. Since they also need to be grouped up for maximum output, deadly splash damage-wielding units can decimate entire swarms. Even Marines have enough splash with their rockets to make short work of them if not careful.
Being an air unit, Scouts stand no match for the lethal Sakata Mk-II found in the Manufactory. Even one of them will annihilate a whole Scout swarm. Air superiority units like Black Queens will also cut down their numbers fast, and both Marines and S-Marines pose problems with their airborne rockets.
Most of the cost for Scouts is in their energy requirment. Choosing Fascist, then immediately building a Forge can provide a very early Scout swarm in no time, allowing for early chip damage against the base or enemy unit harassment.
Some dangerous units for early and lategame include Chronite Tanks, Hover Tanks, Sakata Spiders, and Mod. Sakatas. All of these units cannot hit air and can be safely chipped away with a Scout swarm. Make sure there is no anti-air support, especially against the lategame units.
