An advanced military tank that uses hover technology to traverse terrain rather than treads, as well as sporting advanced Special armor and high impact, linear Positron cannons. This tank is specifically designed against Chronite armor whilst still being resilient against infantry units, with the bonus of high Missile resistance.
Hover Tanks are equipped with high impact, linear Positron cannons, designed to penetrate Chronite armor with ease. This makes their weaponry effective against Chronite Tanks, Gröditz, and Sakata Spiders. However, like their Chronite Tank brethren, they are unable to fire at air units.
Hover Tanks excel against singular targets, inflicting about the same damage as a Chronite Tank in much less time between each shot. This makes them capable of annihilating key units on the field quite quickly, especially when stacked together in platoons.
Hover Tanks are Missile resistant due to their Special armor, requiring at least 3 Special Operations missiles to destroy them. This makes them a good stall for Black Queens to waste a ground missile, alongside a good frontline for end-game where Special Operations missiles are more likely to be frequently used by the enemy.
Since Hover Tanks inflict single-target damage rather than area damage, they're less effective against heavy concentrations of units, allowing for cheap infantry units to slow their advance. This can be especially problematic if units like A26-Legionnaires appear in abundance, which can slow Hover Tank advances to a halt.
Since Hover Tanks lack an air weapon, Scouts, Phantoms, Saints, and other air superiority units can freely break down a Hover line without resistance. Scouts and Phantoms can be especially pesky, still inflicting significant damage if in large swarms, although Black Queens will only be a gradual, but still dangerous, threat. Saints are the most likely threat, being uncontested by the Hover Tanks when they rain down their shots.
The Positron weaponry on Hover Tanks is the least effective weaponry for Composite armor, found only on Sphinxes and Jötunns. For Sphinxes, this can make one of these extremely resilient units stop a platoon of Hover Tanks in place, leading to a standoff with little progress. The Sphinx can also eventually annihilate all of the Hover Tanks with its dangerous ground weapon if not careful.
Be careful when fighting Eidolons and Jötunns in particular, since they can quickly rip through the Special armor on Hover Tanks. Eidolons are lethal towards Hover Tank platoons and should be a first priority to handle.
With the Communist government, it's possible to infinitely stream Chronite Tanks from the Outpost, creating an endless line of tanks that will slow ground advances and harass the enemy base.
Amass several Chronite Tanks and gather them into a file. This way, when they advance against the enemy, they will focus their fire on the first approaching target, inflicting heavy burst damage that will ruin any non-Kinetic resistant units.
Meditecs and other backline units vulnerable to upfront engagements will hide behind units like Sphinxes and Hover Tanks to prevent such easy deaths. If Chronite Tanks are instructed to rush to the base, then switch to Hold or Advance orders when within range of the backline, they can fire into these vulnerable units, killing Meditec groups that would otherwise make the frontline insurmountable.
