The Sakata Spider is the definitive late-game unit of the Forge, found in the Mechanics Terminal and armed with singular voltage beams alongside unique self-repairing technology found on the Sakata line. Sakata Spiders serve as an effective, albeit Energy hungry, backbone to late-game ground engagements.
Sakata Spiders use singular voltage beams to repeatedly fry their targets with lethal energy, partly explaining their high Energy requirement. They can only target ground units with their voltage beams, making them the polar opposite when targeting in comparison to Sakata Mk-II's.
Although Sakata Spiders inflict Kinetic damage, reduced significantly by Chronite armor, their damage output is quite high, and their firerate is comparable to an A25-Roman, allowing them to still tear through Chronite Tanks, Gröditz, and Hover Tanks.
A unique trait found amongst Sakata units is their self-repairing technology. Sakata Spiders have decent passive healing this way that allows them to recover relatively quick from engagements.
Sakata Spiders lack proper weaponry against air units, making especially punishing units like Black Queens and Saints dangerous for them to encounter. Sakata Spiders require some other unit to give them counter-air support.
Being equipped with Chronite armor, Sakata Spiders are vulnerable to the devastating damage Black Queens and Special Operations missiles can inflict. For being such resilient self-repairing units, a single Special Operations missile destroys them immediately. Avoid bunching them together when such a threat exists.
Sakata Spiders rely on their self-repair to maintain a firm presence on the field. Shrikes are a specialized aerial unit that inflict anti-heal on their targets, outright preventing Sakata Spiders from self-repairing. This can be deadly in engagements a Sakata Spider would normally win with their self-repairing.
Sakata Spiders and Sakata Mk-II's make an Energy heavy yet perfect pairing for Fascist governments, with Mk-II's handling aerial threats and Spiders handling ground threats. If paired with sufficient healing from Meditecs, they can make a dangerous pairing that would take only the toughest unit combinations to strike down.
Sakata Spiders make a good unit to poke with their shots with their decent mobility and quick firerate. Send a few Sakata Spiders against the opposition, then retreat them back when they're at risk of destruction so their self-repairing can bring them back to full health. Repeat this to reduce down the opponent's defensive structure to splinters.
